This underrated gem from Rare puts players in the role of one of two snakes navigating an isometric playing field with the goal of capturing a flag at the top of a mountain. Similar to Q*bert and Congo Bongo, Snake Rattle 'N Roll features crisp, colorful graphics, distinctive characters, and whimsical gameplay, which is only tarnished by spotty controls. To complete the task, the snake must eat "Nibbley Pibbleys" while being assailed by toilet seats, spikes, and Bigfoot (among others). The music is surprisingly catchy and never annoying, and a two-player competitive mode only enhances replay value.
